“I promise, Suzy. I will never act like that again. I love you more than anything in the world. I’d kill for you and give my life to save yours.” I enveloped her in my arms, squeezing her tightly against my body. “You’re everything to me and I will do everything in my power to show you how much you mean to me. I will spend every day showing you all the love I have for you and profess my love to you on my deathbed.”
“Jesus, you’re so morbid. I promise, and ‘I’m sorry’ would’ve been enough.” She laughed, wrapping her arms around my body.
“It takes more than two words to explain the amount of love I have for you, but right now, I rather show you.” I smirked, grabbing her chin and bringing her lips to mine.
“Oh, how are you going to do that?” she asked with garbled words as she spoke against my lips.
Breaking the kiss, I looked in her eyes. “I’m going to make love to my fiancée the day before our wedding.” Her breath hitched as her eyes searched mine. “Tomorrow you officially become Mrs. Joseph Gallo.”
“Why can’t you become Mr. Suzy McCarthy?” She giggled, rubbing her nose against my cheek.
“Not how it works, sugar. I’m the man and you’re the woman, but you can call me whatever the hell you want when we’re in private.” I smirked, nipping her nose with my teeth.
“Mmm, I like the sound of that.” A warm smile spread across her lips as her body melted into mine.
I kissed her lips, gently prodding, trying to find her tongue. I wanted to taste her. “Suzy, why won’t you kiss me back?” Maybe her heart hadn’t caught up to her words. I prayed to f**k that was the case. When someone won’t kiss you and show you the love you want to convey, it’s like a stake to the heart.
She covered her mouth with her hand. “I didn’t brush my teeth yet. I think a small furry animal died inside my mouth last night.” The corners of her mouth peeked out the sides of her hand, the smile touching her eyes.
Laughter bubbled out of me, slow at first until my entire body was shaking as her words hit me. “Baby, I don’t care if you have bad breath. I won’t breathe through my nose.” I leaned my forehead against hers.
She shook her head, moving her face farther away from mine with her hand still covering her mouth. “Not happening. Either I get up and brush my teeth or you don’t get a kiss until after.”
“You feel this?” I asked, pushing my erection into her stomach. “I’m not waiting until you find your toothbrush and get lost in the bathroom. I need to feel you from the inside. I don’t give a f**k about your breath.”
“I’m not going to kiss you.” She said firmly, her mouth set in a firm line.
“Didn’t say anything about kissing you, sugar. I want to f**k you and I only care about your pu**y right now.” I was done discussing the topic. I needed to be inside her and I needed it now. My body craved her and my heart needed her; I wasn’t in the mood to be patient.
Chapter 9 ~ The Chosen Life
“I love when you talk dirty to me. You just want to mark your territory.” I smirked, watching him hop off the bed and unbutton his jeans.
“You bet that sweet ass I’m marking it. I’m going to crawl so far up that pretty little pu**y that I’ll ruin you for life.” He shucked his pants, kicking them to the side as he pulled his t-shirt over his head.
What the man didn’t understand is that he already ruined me. I was destroyed, damaged goods and no one would ever compare to him. As hard and sexy as he was, the soft and loving side of City is what ultimately stole my heart. The man loved me so fiercely that no one could ever come close. The small looks he stole when he thought I wasn’t looking, the loving touches as I fell asleep, and the sweet nothings he whispered in my ear when he thought I was dreaming—those are the things I love most about him.
I yawned, pretending to be unimpressed by his words and sexy as hell naked body. “Well, you can try anyway. I’ll let you know if your words ring true.”
He grabbed the comforter, yanking it off my body before pulling me down the bed by my feet. I squealed; the quickness of his movements caught me off-guard. Pulling me off the bed in a standing position, he quickly dispelled me of my clothes.
“So far, a C for effort. You can do better.” I smiled, watching the corner of his lip twitch.
He placed his hands under my arms, firmly gripping my waist before throwing me on the bed. He pounced on me, not giving me a moment to catch my breath before smothering me with a perfect closed mouth kiss. My stomach fluttered like the first time he kissed me. The nerves and emotion of the last twelve hours poured out through our lips.
I dug my fingers into his dark locks, fisting the hair in between my fingers as I held his mouth to mine. I wish I had brushed my damn teeth. I wanted to taste him. He pulled away; breaking the connection we had and looked down at me. The heat of his chest seared my skin and the thump of his heart matched mine. He was just as nervous as me, both of us on edge from last night.
“This will be the last time I’ll make love to you before you become my wife.” He smiled; his teeth sparkled in the sunlight.
“What about tonight?” I asked, totally confused.
“Sugar, I can’t see the bride the night before the wedding. We’ve talked about this before. I’m going to stay at my parents.”
“I don’t like that idea. That’s two nights not sleeping in your arms.” I sighed, rubbing my thumb across his unshaven cheek. The roughness matched the man more perfectly than the silky skin I felt some days.
